From doc to a Fully Functional Tableau Dashboard a quick video demo: Following up on the zero-click Tableau generation demo that resonated with many of you, I am excited to share a more robust, real-world application that proves the comprehensive capabilities of this open-source tool. The video shows the entire process of building a Superstore Profitability Overview dashboard from scratch, driven entirely by natural language.
On the left is the business requirement document; on the right, the AI agent is calling the cwtwb MCP server to programmatically write and assemble the .twb file.
Still no manual drag-and-drop. Still no opening Tableau Desktop to build. This demonstration goes beyond simple chart assembly. It highlights a much deeper feature coverage: Auto-generated Calculated Fields: Accurately created custom metrics like Profit Ratio based purely on text logic. Rich Visualization Types: Successfully configured and rendered map views with geographical hierarchies, alongside multi-dimensional bar charts. Precise Dashboard Layout: Handled complex container arrangements, chart sizing, and overall canvas planning. Complete Interactivity: Most importantly, it automatically configured Dashboard Actions, enabling seamless cross-chart filtering. To be transparent, this is still an early-stage beta. Highly customized or non-standard visual requirements might still need manual tweaking.
However, this clearly proves that AI can directly generate the underlying BI code and deliver a dashboard with complete interactive capabilities.
